Pius is the founding CEO of Nabo Capital and his passion is to connect investors to lucrative opportunities across Africa. He passionately believes that investors cannot afford to ignore the continent, a key topic when he speaks at global investment forums. Quick to acknowledge he has the best job in the world, Pius believes Africa is the best place for anyone wishing to make a remarkable difference and leave a lasting legacy. With more than 12 years’ experience of successfully investing in Africa, he has overseen investment transactions in excess of $500M.
On the back of remarkable success, Pius led his team at Centum to spin off into an independent fully-fledged investment boutique, Nabo Capital, which is now managing over $140m AUMs and has helped reputable institutional clients from US, Europe, Asia and Africa acquire sizable stakes and break into top ten shareholders lists of some of the most coveted, blue chip companies on the continent. Pius leverages a wide network and with unique, boots-on-the-ground experience operates across multiple asset classes such as equities, fixed income, private debt, private equity and real estate.
Pius was part of the dream team that formulated and successfully implemented the now famous “Centum 2.0 Strategy” that began the exciting journey of transforming Centum, a once laid -back $60 Million investment firm, into a $1.8 Billion AUM outfit.
His colleagues occasionally refer to him as the ‘Resident Bishop’ because of his deep spiritual orientation and personal values. Pius does not consider what he does to be a job, but rather his divine purpose – to enrich society and people’s lives.
Pius has endeared himself as fiercely loyal to his family, which includes staff and clients. He goes to great lengths to protect them, has a cool temperament and is unwaveringly positive. If there is one person our clients trust completely, it’s Pius.
SUKI MUIA, CFA
Suki’s specialty is tailoring suitable investment solutions for our institutional clients through a well thought-out combination of strategic asset allocations and investment products.
Suki has over 8 years investment experience and was part of the team that spun off from Centum to form Nabo Capital in 2013. She has tailored investment solutions for some of the largest funds in the world seek who exposure in Africa and has spent most of her career traveling Africa identifying and seizing opportunities on behalf of our clients. Suki is familiar with almost every investible security on the continent.
Suki has a deep appreciation of client needs and spends her days monitoring client portfolios with the sole objective of championing their interests by delivering set financial goals.
Suki holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi and is a CFA Charter holder.Back to team
EVANS MUGI, CAIA
Evans Mugi is an Investment Manager at Nabo Capital. He is responsible for managing a team of Investment Analysts and oversees the firm’s investment activities; including capital allocation and risk management for a diversified portfolio of over $140 million in Equity & Fixed Income assets across various strategies.
Until he became Investment Manager, Evans served as a portfolio manager and analyst, responsible for identifying, researching and executing on the firm’s best ideas.
He’s been with Nabo for more than 6 years and was responsible for codifying Nabo’s investment process and opening up the firm’s Pan-African Equities strategy. Evans led the first successful investments into Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Zambia and Botswana.
Evans has spent considerable time ‘on-the-ground’ in these countries, conducting research and channel checks, forging relationships and networks with local market players and experts. On the back of this insightful work, funds and portfolios under management in the Pan-African strategy, have consistently ranked in the top 5% of industry peers from inception.
Outside of work, Evans is a fitness enthusiast, enjoys competitive sport and is a keen bridge player.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi and holds the CAIA designation.

Patrick is a specialist in running operations, with a career that stretches for over 11 years in the financial sector. He brings on board vast expertise in custodial services, process design, regulatory compliance, client servicing, reporting, stakeholder management, technology and automation. Patrick and his team are constantly challenging and improving how we deliver a great experience to our clients.
